Tiger football program hosts Blue and Gold scrimmage

CLEWISTON- The Clewiston High School Tiger football team is set to begin their spring football practices on April 29.

The first practice will take place immediately after school. The team will host a Blue and Gold scrimmage on May 24 at Cane Field in Clewiston.

Last season was Clewiston’s first year under new head coach Andrew Powell. In March of 2023 Clewiston hired as the new head coach of the football program. Powell is a former Tiger and played football in Clewiston under head coach Al Morrell and Pete Walker on both the offensive and defensive lines.

During his three seasons with the program the Tigers had a 28-13 record. Powell was ranked one of the top linemen in the state, earning all-league and all-district awards. After graduating from Clewiston Powell attended college at Mississippi State, where he played on the defensive line. He closed out his collegiate career starting 11 of the 12 games he played.

Admission for the Blue and Gold scrimmage will be $5. Family and friends will get their first look at next year’s Tigers when the scrimmage starts at 6 p.m.
