Posted

The Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) and the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee (COC) are proud to announce the establishment of a groundbreaking initiative, the Business Retention and Expansion Program (BREP), designed to support the growth and sustainability of businesses in our rural community.

BREP is a collaborative effort between both organizations, aimed at fostering a thriving business environment and ensuring the long-term prosperity of our community. By providing targeted support and resources to local businesses, the program seeks to retain and expand existing enterprises, thus driving economic growth and creating new opportunities for residents.

Key benefits of the Business Retention and Expansion Program include:

1. Customized Support: BREP will offer personalized assistance to local target industry businesses, addressing their specific needs and challenges. Through one-on-one consultations, businesses will receive tailored guidance on various aspects such as marketing, financing, workforce development, expansion and operational efficiency.

2. Access to Resources: By leveraging the combined resources of Economic Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce, the program will provide businesses with access to a comprehensive network of experts, industry connection round tables, and educational workshops, empowering them to enhance their competitiveness and sustainability.

3. Economic Stability: By proactively engaging with local businesses and addressing their concerns, BREP aims to create a more stable and resilient economic landscape. Retaining established businesses and supporting their expansion endeavors will contribute to job retention, stimulate local spending, and attract further investment into our community.

4. Strengthening Community Partnerships: The collaboration exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in driving economic development. By working together, both organizations can maximize their impact and create a unified support system for local businesses.

In a joint statement, Jeff Sumner, Chairman of the OCEDC, and Tabitha Trent, President of the COC, expressed their excitement about the potential of BREP to transform the local business landscape. They emphasized the importance of this program in fostering a business-friendly environment and ensuring the long-term prosperity of the community.

The Business Retention and Expansion Program represents a significant milestone in the collective efforts to support our local economy.
