Clewiston’s Imani Greaves earns awards at state weightlifting competition

LAKELAND- Clewiston High School’s Imani Greaves earned second place in Traditional Lift and fifth place in Olympic Lift at the Florida High School Athletic Association state weightlifting finals on Feb. 17.

The finish at the FHSAA competition caps off a successful year for Imani.

During a weightlifting competition on Nov. 10 in 2023, Greaves finished in first place in Olympic Lifts with 195 pounds and first place in Traditional Lifts with 340 pounds.

Then, at districts this year Greaves was crowned the District 2A 183lb Weightlifting champion after earning first place in both the Olympic Lift and Traditional Lift. That advanced her to regionals at Sebastian High School on Feb. 3.

At regionals she was crowned the 2A regional champion, winning first place in the Olympic Lift and first place in the Traditional Lift. She also set a personal record in Bench Press with a lift of 230 pounds.

After her win at the regionals Imani advanced to the state competition in Lakeland on Feb. 16-17 where she earned second place in the Traditional Lift and fifth place in the Olympic Lift.

During a weightlifting competition on Nov. 10 last year, Greaves finished in first place in Olympic Lifts with 195 pounds and first place in Traditional Lifts with 340 pounds.

Imani is a multi-sport athlete at Clewiston, playing softball, volleyball, and soccer during her three years at CHS. In 2022, she led the nation in saves as a Lady Tiger varsity soccer team goalkeeper with 426.
