FORT MYERS — The Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Foundation recently named a new chair and elected three new members to its board.

John M. Wright, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, was named FSW Foundation Board Chair. A career banking executive, Wright has served as a board member since 2021.

The three new FSW Foundation board members are Susan Chicone, Troy Churchill and Jeffrey Kunberger.

Chicone is the Assistant Head for Finance and Human Resources at Canterbury School Fort Myers. Prior to joining Canterbury School, she served as Senior Vice President and Private Client Manager at Busey Bank. Alongside her banking career, she has been instrumental in the success of her family’s business ventures, including serving as Operations Manager for First Home Builders of Florida. Chicone has volunteered her time with many local not-for-profits over the years, serving on the Chairman’s Board for the American Heart Association, board member for the Players Circle Theater, and as event chair for both Go Red for Women and Canterbury’s Extravaganza.

Churchill serves as the president and CEO for Cypress Living in Fort Myers and has more than 16 years of experience in health care. Cypress Living comprises a highly skilled team that provides operational support to both Cypress Cove, a beautiful 60-acre Life Plan Community located on the HealthPark Florida campus, and Cypress at Home, a start-up that is looking to disrupt how home care is provided by offering innovative services and solutions that support independence for adults.

Kunberger is a director of service center operations at Suncoast Credit Union in Southwest Florida where he oversees eight retail locations across Charlotte, Hendry and Lee counties. Kunberger is active in supporting education in his community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, as well as being past SAC Chair at his children’s schools. He is an active volunteer with FutureMakers, Community Cooperative and the Boys and Girls Club of Lee County.

Since 1966, the FSW Foundation has opened access to quality higher education in the region. Managed by a voluntary Board of Directors of business and civic leaders from all five counties served by the college, its focus is to support FSW’s mission. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

As a partner in building a better community, the FSW Foundation promotes higher education with student scholarships, support of academic programs, technology enhancements, and new and improved facilities.
