LABELLE -- Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit a fire hydrant on State Road 29 on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 21 around 1 p.m.
According to the FHP report, the vehicle was traveling north on SR 29, south of Kulczy Drive, when the vehicle crossed the center line, entered the south grass shoulder and collided with a fire hydrnt.
Post collision, the hydrant valve was compromised, losing more than 85,000 gallons of water.
The driver fled the scene in the vehicle.
