EVERGLADES CITY — What have our talented artisans been doing over the summer?

Come along on Saturday, November 18, to Art-in-the-Glades in historic Everglades City to see what new works they have for sale and to catch up with old friends. The event in McLeod Park is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and admission is free.

If you have never been to Everglades City, you will find that it is only a short drive down the road from Naples or Marco but a world away, a step back in history. This remote rural outpost was the first seat of Collier County when it was founded 100 years ago in 1923 and the original County Courthouse is among the original buildings still gracing the quiet streets.

Besides shopping, there are two museums to explore and the seasonal treat of stone crab claws in several restaurants along the river.

DIRECTIONS:

From I-75, take Exit 80, drive south on SR-29 for 18 miles, cross US-41 at the light, and continue south on CR-29 for 4 miles to the Circle

If you are coming down US-41 (Tamiami Trail) from Naples drive south about 25 miles from intersection with CR-951 and turn right (south) at the light on CR-29. Continue 4 miles to Everglades City Circle.

From Marco Island, go over the Goodland bridge on CR-92, turn right when you reach US-41 (about 5 miles), and continue south for 16 miles until you reach the light on CR-29. Turn right and continue 4 miles to the Circle in Everglades City.

When you arrive at the Circle in Everglades City, McLeod Park is behind the tennis courts west of Everglades City Hall and the Museum is the pink building just across the street at 105 West Broadway.
