MOORE HAVEN- Moore Haven Terrier football coach Brent Burnside will be moving on from the program. On April 23 he announced that he had accepted the position assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres.

"There comes a point in time, whether it’s a single moment or a series of happenings, that lead us into change," said Burnside after the announcement.  “I experienced that moment.  I was presented with an opportunity at East Lee County that will allow me to take a bit of the load off, just coach football, and allow more time to focus on family.”

The Terriers saw plenty of success while Burnside was on the coaching staff.

He was defensive coordinator during the time the Terriers achieved a record of 19-3 over two years, including an undefeated regular season in 2017. He played football at the collegiate level and attended Missouri Western State from 1996-’99 where he was named first team all conference defensive back.

As head coach he helped guide the team to back-to-back playoff appearances in years which saw the Terriers battle both a worldwide pandemic and a jump up in their football classification.

“This is an opportunity to start fresh with a program that doesn't have a lot of tradition and a chance to bring some legitimacy to a team that has consistently been overlooked,” concluded Burnside.

Now the Terriers will be on the hunt for their next leader ahead of the 2021 season.
