Local girl wins Special Olympic title

FORT PIERCE - Special Olympics Tennis County Games were held in Ft Pierce at Lawnwood Tennis Center on Feb. 20. Carol Marker won the Okeechobee County title and Kenyatta Johnson won the St. Lucie county title.

Marker won the blue ribbon and will represent Okeechobee County in State Games at the International Tennis Center in Orlando on May 7.

The athletes would like to thank Al Fludd from Flood Athleticcs for presenting the winners with a gift bag full of athletic gear. Fludd is an alumni of Okeechobee High School and said it makes him happy to help the athletes.  Fludd wished Marker the best of luck at State Games and with the Brahmans.

Despite having autism, Marker made the Okeechobee High School Tennis Team and loves playing tennis.
