Letter to the Editor:
Anglers for Lake Okeechobee on Senate Bill 94

Posted

As anglers, lakeside residents and advocates for Lake Okeechobee, we want to see Florida’s liquid heart protected and preserved.

We have had great momentum in our fight for the health of our lake, and we cannot thank the Florida Environment and Natural Resources Committee and Senator Jason Brodeur enough for continuing to prioritize projects such as the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration Project and Aquifer Storage and Recovery plans through Senate Bill 94.

Lake Okeechobee is as important to South Florida as any other water resource and deserves to be treated as such. When the lake is cared for, all other bodies of water, coast to coast, also reap the benefits. On behalf of Anglers for Lake Okeechobee and all those living and working around the lake, we thank the committee for voting to expedite northern storage options to slow the flow and restore the health of the lake and the coastal estuaries.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Martin
AFLO Executive Director
