The following felony cases have either been tried in a court of law or have been settled without trial and are considered closed.

• Beartha Huskey was sentenced to four months in county jail after entering a plea of no contest to the charge of possession of cocaine in February of 2020. Huskey was stopped on the street by members of the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force and asked if she had any illegal drugs on her. She voluntarily turned her pockets out and showed them a small piece of crack cocaine.

• Lorna Gordon was sentenced to two years probation after entering a no contest plea to a charge of resisting an officer with violence. In June of 2020, Gordon was arrested after attempting to stop deputies from arresting her son. A second charge of battery on law enforcement was later dropped.

• Bradley Sheltra was sentenced to six months in county jail followed by two years drug offender probation after pleading no contest to charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sheltra was arrested in June of 2020 after he was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt and drugs were found in his vehicle and in his sock.

• Jajuanza Ford was sentenced to one year probation after pleading no contest to the charge of grand theft. Ford was arrested in May of 2020 after stealing lottery tickets from the store where she worked. Several of the stolen tickets were cashed at a Race Trac Store in Fort Pierce. Ford told deputies she took the tickets because she was going to be kicked out of her house and did not know what to do.

• Connie Yates was sentenced to two years drug offender probation after pleading no contest to charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methadone, possession of amphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Yates was arrested in January of 2020 after a traffic stop due to a child standing on the front seat of the vehicle as Yates drove down Southwest Eighth Street. A search of the vehicle produced the drugs and paraphernalia.

• Jonathan Gallego was sentenced to 18 months probation after pleading no contest to charges of possession of marijuana more than 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gallego was arrested in April of 2019 after a traffic stop on U.S. 98 North. Gallego was driving 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

• Jacob Morales was sentenced to 18 months probation after pleading no contest to the charge of possession of marijuana more than 20 grams. Morales was arrested in April of 2019 after traffic stop. Morales was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Jonathan Gallego.

• Joseph Tonegas was sentenced to one year and one day with the department of corrections followed by three years probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution to his victim. Tonegas, 19, was arrested in November of 2020 and charged with criminal mischief $1,000 or more. The arrest was made after a complainant reported Tonegas gave drugs to a minor and then damaged the complainant’s vehicle by punching and kicking it.

• Malcolm Williams was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to the charge of battery on a police officer. Williams was arrested in December of 2019 following a report of domestic violence. Williams slapped the arresting officer and resisted arrest.
