Family holds fundraiser after Valentine’s Day fire

Posted

LABELLE - A family’s Breana Court home caught fire Sunday, Feb. 14.

Red Cross volunteers said members of the Disaster Action Team helped coordinate emergency aid to the family  affected by the fire.

The Red Cross provided the six people, four adults and two children, with emergency financial assistance, as well as relief items like toiletries, and health and mental health services.

Other details were not immediately available from fire officials.

“As many of you know, a house in LaBelle burnt and greatly impacted a family,” explained Abby Casillas. “This was my family. It was our house on Breanna Court.”

Casillas explained she has enjoyed making various chocolate dipped treats for quite some time, and due to the fire, she has decided to use them as a fundraiser. From chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels to mini heart cakes and Oreos, and more, she will be selling the sweets to help her family.

“I can deliver in the LaBelle area.

Please help my family through this, it really means a lot! Thank You,” Casillas said.
