Tall orders filled at Short Cakes

LABELLE - Have you been wondering what happened to LaBelle’s beloved Short Cakes? You’re not alone, as several people were spotted pulling into the local restaurant’s old location, only to find the place boarded up. But fear not, Short Cakes Sweet Shop and Eatery has simply moved to a new location. You can find all of owner Ashely Short’s regular, homestyle menu items, along with some delicious new additions, just inside the LaBelle Airport.

“The new spot is gorgeous! I love the design and decor!” said Sandy Davis, a Lehigh Acres resident who says, “It’s totally worth the drive, the food and service is consistently excellent.”

Changing locations can be a tall order for a restaurant, but add in a pandemic while doing so, and it becomes quite a difficult struggle for any small business.

Luckily, now that she’s completed the transition, it seems Short hasn’t missed a beat. Short Cakes is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and with online ordering options, the kitchen has been bustling since the big move.

“It’s too hard to pick a favorite,” said Wendy Garcia, a LaBelle resident and regular Short Cakes customer. “We eat here several times a week. I love the soups, and of course, we definitely love the cupcakes!”

Short Cakes' new address is 311 East Cowboy Way, in LaBelle. Their phone number is (863) 675-7575. Updates and specials can be found on their Facebook page

Online ordering can be done by visiting their Toast Tab page.
