Immokalee pursuit leads to one arrest

Posted

Deputies arrested Jermiyah Lyvonne Elliot following a pursuit Wednesday afternoon, March 31, in Immokalee.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were made aware that a stolen white Lexus SUV with New York tags was heading east on State Road 82 toward Immokalee.

Just before 4:30 p.m., deputies spotted the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

As the vehicle continued to flee southbound on State Road 29, deputies successfully deployed stop sticks causing the driver side tires to deflate.

Deputies then used a precision immobilization technique to bring the vehicle to a stop near State Road 29 and New Market Road West.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was taken into custody after he was struck by one of two probes fired from a deputy’s taser during the foot chase.

After he was transported to Naples Community Hospital for medical clearance, Elliot was transported to the Naples Jail Center for booking.

Elliot is no stranger to law enforcement. In 2019, he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana 20 grams. A warrant was issued in that case after Elliot removed his ankle monitor.

Elliot was also arrested in 2019 for driving without a license and cited for speeding and driving on an expired registration.

In July of 2020, Elliot was arrested once again and charged with vehicle burglary, burglary to a residence during a state of emergency, resisting an officer, and theft. That case is still pending in Broward County.

Elliot now faces several charges including fleeing law enforcement, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and resisting an officer without violence. He’s also being held on an out-of-county warrant from Broward County.
