TALLAHASSEE -- Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered flags be flown at half mast on March 3 in honor of the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of March 1, according to the Florida Department of Health, 31,135 Floridians and 561 non-residents have died in Florida, related to COVID-19.

Deaths in South Central Florida counties were:

Okeechobee County - 78;

Glades County - 15;

Hendry County - 73;

Palm Beach County - 2,486;

Martin County - 284;

Highlands County - 304;

DeSoto County - 75;

Collier County -461.

Our seniors First strategy encompasses vaccine administration for senior citizens at thousands of sites statewide from retail pharmacies to houses of worship to healthcare facilities.

"Beginning March 3, K-12 school employees, sworn law enforcement officers and firefighters 50 years of age and older may also receive the vaccine.
