With COVID-19 vaccine widely available throughout the state, more than half of the state’s adult population has received at least one dost of the COVID-19 vaccine and more than 40% have completed their vaccination series. The options for obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine have increased and in many places vaccine is available without an appointment. Health officials continue to encourage those eligible for vaccination to get the shot.

According to the Florida Department of Health data, as of May 10, 54% of those over age 18 in Florida have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

Percentages vary for South Central Florida Counties.

• Collier County: 61.3 percent of those over 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

• Glades County: 25.3% of those over age 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

• Hendry County: 39.1% of those over age 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

• Highlands County: 48.8% of those over age 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

• Martin County: 57.6% of those over age 18 have been vaccianted with at least one dose.

• Okeechobee County: 36.7% of those over age 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

• Palm Beach County: 56.3% of those over age 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

Earlier this year, people waited in long lines just to make an appointment to be vaccination. COVID-19 vaccinations are now available with no wait at many sites.

More than 800 Florida retail pharmacies in Florida are scheduling vaccine appointments for eligible individuals.

Hospitals are administering COVID-19 vaccine to health care workers with direct patient contact, including health care workers in their communities, as well as persons 65 years of age and older and hospital providers may vaccinate persons who they deem to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.

County health departments are also administering COVID-19 vaccine.
